You must be ready to ‘metamorphose’ or change to remain relevant.
I will use a simple lesson from the 4-staged life cycle of a butterfly to explain. First the eggs, the Larve (caterpillar), the pupa (Chrysalis) and then the full grown butterfly.
Scene one: The eggs are laid. This marks the beginning of life. Life in the egg can be truncated if a kid unknowingly steps on the eggs. Babies are born helpless and clueless. Deliberate nurturing and grooming sets them on the path of growth. Appreciate every ‘care giver’ you have had in the past.
Scene Two: The caterpillar crawls out hungrily from the egg and spends its life time eating. In the life of a woman, this stage depicts the phase of life when you consciously ‘absorb’ all that you can. Add to yourself. Acquire skills. Increase in knowledge. Pursue personal development. Build a strong linkage of support groups around you. Enlarge your network circles. Learn something new. Do things differently as you keep taking in.
Scene Three: The caterpillar changes into the pupa and rests in preparation for the next phase of life. Now this phase requires what I call the ‘res’ . A woman that will function well and be bold to make a change in her sphere of influence must find time to rest, relax, re-organize, re-structure, refresh, get rejuvenated, re-wire her thoughts and life patterns if need be, re-size what needs to be re-sized, re-orientate, the list is endless. Rediscover your self using the 'res' tools.
Scene Four: Viola! The emergence of a colourful, beautiful adult butterfly with delicate flowery wings ready to fly! Without scenes 1-3, there is no ‘flying’. I remember those days when as kids we catch butterflies so we can look at them closely. We end up having the powdery coloured stains on the palms. A woman who has gone through scenes 1 -3, will always leave indelible foot prints in the sands of time.
March, the women’s month may come and go, but let the change continue.
