The Wind and the Water

  I live in the South West of Nigeria and right now it appears the North East trade wind is sweeping across again to collect ‘something’ it left behind earlier in the year. Layers of dust. Chapped lips. Harmattan haze. Flight cancellations and diversions. Low humidity. Nose bleeding. Cough. Flu. Wildfires are all aftermaths.    When the wind blows gently and lightly, it has a cooling and soothing effect especially in the country side and beach areas but when strong with violent gusts, it carries anything on its way and cause disaster. My tall, slender, papaya tree succumbed regrettably yesterday at the passing of a not-so-strong wind. Wind of prosperity. Wind of adversity. Wind of doctrine. Wind of promotion. Wind of revival.
