29,000ft above Sea level
Looking farther, I saw
blue shades and streaks of white puffs rising further into the sky like
castles, some enveloping each other in consistent and ordinary patterns, all
spreading out as far as my eyes could see. Just pure, serene atmosphere where
no life exists to witness all the grandeur.
Man may never have known
this path but for the Wright brothers. No matter how many times I behold this
breath taking sight, I lack words to describe it and to think that this is not
even the peak of God’s creation is another food for thought.
Some clouds are suspended
on absolutely nothing, thus defying gravity. Does this arrangement of the
clouds remain exactly the same through the years or change with the seasons? Maybe
those who study the clouds know (nephrologists).
On nearing our
destination, the pilot announced that he has been advised from the control
tower to delay landing due to a storm. He would carefully stay off the way of
the storm as he descends, he continued; and then he asked us to look through
the window and see the storm! I looked through the window but there was no
storm, it was all blue, blue and tranquil blue! I knew for sure the pilot was
not joking about the storm. Did he see the storm through the window or relied
on information from the control tower and aircraft Gadgets? I wish I had asked
as I was disembarking but I did not. Something came to my mind though…some
people make things happen, some sense what is about to happen, some others
watch things happen ( passively or actively ) and some are oblivious of any
happenings around them.
Before I could clear my
thoughts, I looked through the window again and saw dark furious clouds racing
by the aircraft like they were in hot pursuit. I could feel the rage of the
storm in the well buffered aircraft. We all felt the bumpy gallopy sway of the
airbus like we were on a safari ride as the whirling storm hastily sped by.
Flashes of lightening penetrated the sky in zig zag motions. I wondered if
people at the ground level saw the lightening at the same time I saw it up in the clouds. How true when they say ‘like the speed of lightening’.
At this time it was hush
hush in the aircraft. ‘The light in the cabin would be turned off at this point
as is the custom when landing at night…’ came through the speakers and off the
lights went. I wish I could see the faces of fellow passengers on board but the
silence said it all.
We didn’t believe the
pilot who saw the storm ahead and told us he would carefully land avoiding the
storm; we feared the worst when the lights went off even though we were
informed. How familiar? God, like the pilot sees and knows what lies in the
way, He gently assures and reassures us of safe landing on eagles’ wings but we
worry and fret about the what ‘’if’s’’ and what ‘if nots’ . None of us on board
saw the pilot but we heard him speak re-assuredly, we knew he was taking the
best decision in our interest there in the aircraft, we had no other option
than to take him at his words. Exactly like real life situation. We know God,
He speaks to us daily from on High, He works out all things together for the
good of His children, we chose to believe Him or not.
In the ‘heights’ and
‘storms’ of life in 2016, even 29000ft above the sea level, God charts the
pathway of mankind.
Happy New Year!
