Day 5 – Inspirations from the Beach
I have never imagined swimming anywhere other than a regular swimming pool with boundaries that I can see and clearly marked depths as well.
From afar at the beach, somewhere beyond what the eyes could see well, the blue sea (Indian Ocean in this case) appears to merge with the blue sky above showing 2 different shades of blue with a line in- between. Genesis 1:6 says on the 2nd day of creation, God said 'let there be a firmament/space to separate water from water... God called the firmament "sky" (paraphrased). It all made sense to me seeing this scene. Boundaries - The shades, though almost invisible exist. Again, call it God's indelible signature in Nature.
Beaches are usually characterized with lush palm trees that have green fronds gracefully moving at the passing of breeze. Boats. Coconuts. Shells. Sandcastles at different stages of construction. Wreckages. Foot prints. Pebbles. Debris washed ashore. White sands that dust your feet no matter how carefully you walk. Rolling waves with furious white surfs. Surfers. Picnickers. Kiosks. Sun umbrellas. Children running about gaily. Swimmers. Life guards. Holes dug by kids hunting for imaginary treasures... thanks to fictions. Endless list.
Another characteristic of the beach is that it is the point where water meets with land, this point called shorelines is a dynamic place that is always changing due to forces acting upon it from waves, currents and winds. I read that the surface area of the earth covered by water is about 71%, the rest 29% is land. No wonder land disputes transcend generations. Even animals fight for their territories. Positions of shorelines put by nature are highly dynamic. It reminds me of my flesh constantly warring against my spirit. Countries always at war over boundaries. Office politicking. Sibling rivalry. Conflicts here and there. Shorelines of ‘life’ constantly in contention.
As you go through in life, choose the ‘shorelines’ you would keep at all cost. Life is all about maintaining balance. The currents and forceful waves will come, let the boundaries be intact.
